Our beers are balanced, intriguing and bursting with flavor and aroma. We're not shy when it comes to experimenting with techniques and ingredients.

 

We also tend to get excited about hops and source them locally whenever possible to maintain the highest quality product.

 

And while we love our fresh beers, we also can't resist a little wood. We have a lively barrel program that yields not only the dark and strong variety but the complex and funky as well.

The Cellar Circle is our exclusive bottle club, offering quarterly releases of our more specialty brews. Often barrel-aged, always exceptional.

Annual membership includes:

Threshold Brewing & Blending opened in January 2019 in the east Tabor neighborhood of Montavilla. Owned and operated by husband-wife duo and long-time Montavillains Jarek and Sara Szymanski, Threshold is a passion-project and first foray into commercial brewing for the couple. 

Jarek, pronounced "Yar-ek", comes from a background in software engineering and 10 years' experience as a home brewer. He grew up in Wloclawek, Poland and immigrated to Portland in 2003 after falling in love with the Pacific Northwest. He's a perfectionist by nature and his approach to brewing is driven by a desire to produce an exceptional product to share with his city, his community, his family and his friends.

Sara, a Portland-area local, shares Jarek's passion for great beer and great hospitality. She handles the brewery's communications and logistics, working hand-in-hand with Jarek to see their dream succeed.


Our aim at Threshold is to continue what we've been doing since we first fell in love with beer: share our craft with others, brew the beers we love, push boundaries and connect with our town and neighborhood. Threshold is about a shared community, a place to bring your family, a place to try good things and a place to meet good people.
